Children (K-4th)
The Children's Programs at First UMC McAlester are of great importance to the mission and ministry of the church. There are Sunday School classes for all ages, starting with Kindergarten. On Wednesday nights (Sept-May) there is "Kidz Zone"; a time where we study, pray, play games, and interact with each other in a safe environment.
Times for the programs are:
Sunday School 10 am
Wednesday dinner 5:45 pm (Sept thru May)
Wednesday's Kidz Zone 6:30 pm
Every summer we take exciting field trips to fun places around the state. Past trips having included The Children's Museum in Seminole, OK, the Tiger Refuge in Broken Arrow, OK, the OKC Zoo, the Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman, OK, the Arbuckle Wilderness in south central Oklahoma, Robber's Cave State Park, and even the Precious Moments Chapel in Missouri.
Every Christmas we present a Children's Pagaent for the whole church. Participants sing, play chimes, inact the Christmas story, read scripture, play the piano, and show off their special gifts and talents. Practice begins on Wednesday nights in the fall.
